ZDNET Japan Illumio CEOのAndrew Rubin氏 サイバーセキュリティ支出とサイバー犯罪による損失額の比較。サイバーセキュリティ支出が年々増加しているにもかかわらず、サイバー犯罪による被害額も増え続けていることから、これまでのサイバーセキュリティ対策はコストに見合うだけの効果を発揮できていないことが分かる セキュリティに対する取り組みが始まった当初の防御モデルは境界防御で、外部からの脅威が内部に侵入しないようにせき止めるという発想に基づいていた。しかし、攻撃側の手法が高度化し、またシステム構成が複雑化することで、単純に内部と外部を切り分けることが難しくなったこともあり、防御をすり抜けて内部に脅威が侵入してしまう事例が増えたことから、侵入されることを前提に、侵入を検知できる体制を整備するというモデルに切り替わった。 ツールとしてはSIEMやエンドポイント型脅威検知・対応(EDR)、拡張型脅威検知・対応(XDR)を活用し、内部に侵入した脅威の活動をいち早く検知して被害が生じる前に食い止めることを目指す。Rubin氏が言う「封じ込め」との違いが分かりにくいが、同氏は背景に完璧主義的な発想があるか否かが異なると指摘した。 境界防御でも侵入検知でも、暗黙の前提として「防御側にとっては完全に防御できなければ負け」という発想があるのだという。こうした完璧を目指す発想は、現実問題としてコストを大幅に押し上げてしまう上に担当者の負担を増大させる。 Rubin氏の言う「封じ込め」は、災害級の大規模な被害を生じる前に、小さな被害のうちに止めようという提言となっている。防御から検知への切り替わりの際には「防御をすり抜ける脅威が存在することを前提として、被害を未然に防ぐ対策を」という発想だったが、封じ込めは「被害がある程度生じてしまうことを前提に、小さな被害のうちに止められるように対策を講じる」ものだと言い換えても良いかもしれない。 ある意味防御ラインが段階的に後退しているような諦めの発想のように見えなくもないが、サイバーセキュリティのために無制限に予算を割くことが出来ない以上、現実的な対応としてはこうならざるを得ないというところだろう。 サーバーやクライアントPC、データベースなどのソフトウェアコンポーネントなどを「ノード」とし、ノード間の通信状況をノードをつなぐ線として表現することで全体の状況を可視化するのがグラフの基本的な考え方だが、同社はRubin氏が「装飾(decorating)」と呼ぶ詳細情報を追加しているという。 どのノード間で通信が行われたかという状況だけでは、それが不正な通信かどうかを判断できない可能性がある。しかし、同社のAIセキュリティグラフでは、通信が実施された時刻や継続時間、通信内容などの詳細情報を合わせて保持し、通信のコンテキストを把握できるようにしているという。 同社はもともとネットワークセグメンテーションの提供ベンダーとして知られていたが、AIセキュリティグラフを活用して脅威検知を行う新ソリューションとして「Illumio Insights」を追加し、米国で2025年7月31日に一般提供開始を発表している。Illumio Insightsは、ハイブリッド環境およびマルチクラウド環境のラテラルムーブメントを封じ込めるソリューションとされ、AI CDR(Cloud Detection and Response)と説明されているが、Rubin氏は「既存のNDRやCDR、EDRと競合する製品だとは考えておらず、これらの機能のスーパーセットだと位置付けている」と語った。 Illumioの製品ポートフォリオ。これまではセグメンテーションのベンダーとして知られていたが、新たに検知ソリューションとしてInsightsが加わった。どちらも基盤技術としてAIセキュリティグラフを活用している点が競合他社との差別化ポイントとなっている
