20 Startups Selected For The 12th Edition Of Fit 4 Start Acceleration Programme

Dec 18, 2021

20 Startups Selected For The 12th Edition Of Fit 4 Start Acceleration Programme Franz Fayot, Minister of the Economy (Photo © Luxinnovation) Selected from a pool of 214 applicants coming from 42 countries, the flagship accelerator programme continues to attract talent from across the globe. This year’s edition selected three startups for its new category which focusses on HPC and data analytics. The remaining 17 startups are spread across the traditional verticals of ICT, HealthTech and Space. Already in its 12th edition, Fit 4 Start remains an attractive accelerator programme for startups around the world. Its specialised coaching sessions and lucrative funding from the Ministry of the Economy – €50,000 with the possibility of receiving an additional €100,000 – certainly explain some its appeal. While the traditional verticals of ICT, HealthTech and Space remain unchanged in their programme, the new HPC and data analytics vertical gives startups access to the national supercomputer MeluXina . With a calculating power of 10 petaflops, it is ranked within the top 50 of the world’s most powerful supercomputers. No wonder startups were eager to apply to the new vertical. “The new track attracted 20 applications, which means that there is a real interest for this kind of offer from startups. It links directly Fit 4 Start to MeluXina, which is a highly strategic initiative of the Government meant, among others, to build a competitive ecosystem for ambitious startups” noted Stefan Berend, Head of Start-up Acceleration at Luxinnovation. “The new HPC and data analytics track offers a unique opportunity to benefit from the real added value that we can offer in Luxembourg.” Franz Fayot AI Goes Mainstream More and more startups are using AI in their solutions. At least, that’s what the Fit 4 Start applicant numbers suggest. Nearly one third of all applicants use this technology, compared to the Internet of Things (11%) and Machine Learning (11%). The buzz around MeluXina appears to dominate the conversation however, and politicians and entrepreneurs alike are curious to find out how it will impact the ecosystem. “The new HPC and data analytics track offers a unique opportunity to benefit from the real added value that we can offer in Luxembourg in terms of technology and expertise in the field of supercomputing and I hope that this will lead to the development of innovative solutions,” says Franz Fayot, Minister of the Economy. Starting early January, the programme will last 6 months, keeping options open for both in-person and online sessions.
