Unitree Robotics unveils G1-D, its first wheeled humanoid robot.Unitree Robotics Chinese robotics company Unitree Robotics has launched the G1-D, its first humanoid robot on wheels. The robot is designed to collect data, train AI models, and perform tasks in real-world environments. It combines advanced hardware with a software platform for complete AI workflow management. The G1-D can work in industrial zones, warehouses, service areas, and retail spaces, making it a versatile tool for research and automation. The robot is available in two versions: Standard and Flagship. The company positions the G1-D as a full-stack solution, offering both mobility and dexterity for complex operations. The company emphasizes its use in data acquisition and annotation to improve AI performance in real-world scenarios. Design and mobility The Standard version of the G1-D is stationary, while the Flagship model moves on a wheeled base with differential drive. The mobile version can reach speeds of 1.5 meters per second (5 feet per second). Both models range in height from 49.5 to 66 inches and weigh up to 176 pounds (80 kg). The robot features 17 degrees of freedom in the Standard version and 19 in the mobile version, excluding the effectors. Each arm has seven degrees of freedom and can carry up to 6.6 pounds (3 kg). The waist joint moves along the Z-axis up to 155 degrees and along the Y-axis from -2.5 to 135 degrees. It has a vertical working range of 0 to 6.6 feet (2 meters). Advanced vision and dexterity The G1-D is equipped with a high-definition binocular camera on its head. Additional cameras are mounted on each wrist. It supports multiple end effectors, including two-finger grippers, three-finger manipulators with or without touch sensors, and a five-finger dexterous hand. These tools allow the robot to handle a variety of objects, perform inspections, and execute repetitive manual tasks efficiently. The Flagship version uses an Nvidia Jetson Orin NX module to deliver up to 100 TOPS (trillion operations per second) of AI processing. The battery supports up to six hours of autonomous operation, enabling extended deployment without frequent charging. Integrated software platform Unitree has introduced a software stack alongside the G1-D. The platform handles data collection, task management, annotation, and simulation. It also supports distributed AI model training and integrates with frameworks such as GROOT and PI. Trained models can be exported directly to the robot for deployment, making it easier to scale AI applications. This combination of hardware and software allows G1-D to perform real-world tasks while also generating large datasets for AI development. The robot can assist in warehouse logistics, industrial operations, service environments, and retail spaces. Its mobile base and dexterous arms make it suitable for tasks that require precision and adaptability, from handling packages to interacting with customers or conducting research. Unitree’s G1-D represents a new step in humanoid robotics by combining mobility, dexterity, and full AI workflow management.
